Bargate Monument Gallery

Through the support of Southampton City Council and the South East England Development Agency, Southampton's most historic monument has been refurbished and given a new lease of life as the Bargate Monument Gallery. The Bargate was originally built as the main gateway to the medieval town and has had a number of important uses throughout its history, including being the Guildhall (until 1770s) and the Police headquarters during WW2.
